History
There was a monk called Rev. Kokunnawe Sanghakeerthi
Thero in Bibila Kokunnawa Temple. Rev. Bandigedara
Nigroda thero was student of Saghakeerthi thero. Rev.
Warakadande thero and Rev. Raththane Sonuththara Thero
was the studens of Nigrodha thero. Nigrodha thero,
Warakadande thero and Sonuththara Thero had come to Uwa
Kalabululanda and made Kalabululanda Temple and reside
there. In those period there were monks reside in the
place called Ulugala Gedara.
Rev. Warakadande thero, Rev. Raththane Sonuththara thero,
Rev. Dikkapitiye thero, Rev. Gedarawela Sumangala thero,
Rev. Ambewela Dewarakkhitha thero, Rev. Uwe Gnanarathana
thero, Rev. Uwe Pangnananda thero, Rev. Ambewela
Sarananda thero, Rev. Uwe Silarathana thero.
Alawathugoda village is sub
village of Kalabululanda village. Before 1930 the people
of Alawathugoda couldn't travel to Kalabululanda temple
because those period no vehicles and long distance.
Because of this fact 1934 Asala (July) Poya day Rev. Uwe
Pangnananda thero came to Alawathugoda and Start
Alawathugoda Wijayawardanaramaya generation. In those
period he had worked as a teacher in Parama dhamma
niwasa Piriwena of Boralasgamuwa.
After 1934 one by one Temple
become develop. Rev. Uwe Pngnananda thero died in 13th
of Nov,1935 and after Uwe Silarathane thero came to
Alawathugoda temple in 1936 as a chief incombent. Rev.
Silarathana thero start and made Dehiwala Shasthananda
piriwena in 1948 and he went to Dehiwala and Rev.
Kinigama Dhammananda thero came to Alawathugoda in 1949.
After long time he Developed the temple and in 2002
Dhammananda thero dead and Rev. Udoowara Dhamma
Visudhdhi thero become the cheif incombent of
Alawathugoda temple.
